EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Poverty is the most complex phenomenon. It is considered to be appealing in the cases where numeric imaging exists and poverty could be captured in single number, it is not the situation that is in Tanzania. About half of the population of Tanzania are performing agro activities and residing at rural areas of Tanzania. It has been seen that most of the economies that are rural are considered to be stagnant. This insufficient structure in the rural areas is due to the agriculture storage facilities, road system, education and health and marketing strategies. In Tanzania the entire economic situation is dependent upon the agriculture production because government is not taking any interest in it and they are not benefitting the people living in those rural areas. Due to these problems poverty is increasing and the grip of poverty is tightening the people. In spite of the limitation that are described above, developing economies population are helping themselves by engaging in entrepreneurial activities. These activities involve financing supports and micro financing activities. Micro financing companies are working toward the betterment of the poor entrepreneur and supporting the health programs, educational facilities and food supplies. Financial sector transformation in TSEs involves not only the formation of new private markets and institutions but also the reform or elimination of the old state-led entities. The previous chapter examined the process of financial market formation in successful market economies and the characteristics of a healthy financial institutional framework as a means of developing a comparative basis as well as a model. This chapter examines historical and contemporary processes of financial sector reform for the same purpose. More importantly, these reform processes have yielded real fruit: post-reform financial institutions in these countries have become more efficient and have tailored their services to meet the changing requirements of their predominantly private sector clientele.
