Mitral Valve Prolapse

Introduction

The main purpose of this paper is to make an analysis on the disease “Mitral Valve Prolapse”. The paper makes discussion on the different signs and symptoms of the disease and the ways through which the disease is diagnosed, treated and prognosis. The paper is also a reflection of the easy through which the conditions are being developed and the disease affects the other systems of the body. Mitral Valve Proplapse is also referred to as “Click murmur syndrome” and “Barlow's syndrome”. It is the most common abnormality in the heart, and it has affected almost five to ten percent of the population in the world.

Discussion

Mitral valve Prolapse is the condition of the heart in which the mitral wall of the heart stops functioning in its routine manner. In this disease the flaps of the valves stop working properly as they do not close tightly. In normal situations these flaps are used for the purpose of sealing and opening the valve. In many times, there are no such problems as a result of Mitral Valve Prolapse (Bonow, 2005). In rare cases, blood can be leaked through the wrong ways through the floppy valve. In Mitral valve Prolapse, as a result of the contraction of left ventrical, sometimes one and sometimes both the flaps of the mitral valve stop working and they bulge back into the left atrium. This results in the valve prevention from the formation of a tight seal. As a result, there can be leakage of blood from the ventricle back into the atrium. This backflow of blood is also known as the regurgitation. Mitral Vale Prolapse does not always result in the backflow. In fact, many people suffering from Mitral Valve Prolapse does not suffer from the backflow and they never face such symptoms of backflow. Their mitral valves still have the capability of formulating a tight seal (Triezenberg, 2004). The backflow can result in the irregular heart beats, shortness of breath and chest pain.

Signs and Symptoms

Mostly, people do not face any symptom with the mitral valve prolapse; however, the people who face the symptoms of mitral valve prolapse makes complains about the anxiety, fatigue, migraine headaches and palpitations. A very rare complication of the mitral valve prolapse is the complication of stroke. Another common symptom of the mitral valve proplapse is fatigue, although the specialists have not yet understood the problem ...
