Mobile Computers have a big impact nowadays in healthcare management. Patients are able to monitor their vital signs such as blood pressure and glucose level using smart phones and Tablet computers and data can be sent to the clinical server. Social Networking websites are also good source to share medical information to make people aware of the diseases. This assignment will discuss in detail the use of Mobile computers in healthcare management, its advantages and disadvantages, security issues and the social networking websites to share the information.

Discussion

Due to increase of chronic diseases, patients require a lot of attention. Current hospitals lack in important facilities such as shortages in hospital beds and inadequate medical facilities. Hence, homecare services are becoming very common nowadays. Mobile computers, such as Smartphone are helping patients to monitor their vital signs wherever they want. For medical applications, mobile computers are equipped with biosensors that record data such as heart rate and send them to the clinical database for analysis. “Sensors such as ECG meters and Withings Blood pressure are available now and can be interfaced with the mobile computers through Bluetooth technology”. “Some mobile phones are capable enough to call the ambulance to the patient's location if the readings show the emergence case” (Valerie and Peter, 2011). In order to send the data to the hospital, Mobile computer must be connected to the Internet. This is a time and cost efficient way to upload the data (Vitel Net, 2013).

Advantage

Whether it is a doctor, or patient, both are taking advantage of mobile computers in healthcare. It allows doctors and patients to gain a real-time access to the medical records which helps in providing efficient healthcare services. Smartphone also allow patients to organize their files which contains previous medical history and vital signs such as blood pressure and heart rate. Mobile computer also allows personalization option. Doctor determines how often readings of the blood pressure or heart rate should be taken.
