Introduction

Globally, Narcotics Anonymous is now well established and continues to grow. Each week, more than 53,000 meetings are held in more than 110 countries. There are currently more than thirty meetings per week in a dozen cities in the three national languages.

Feelings Prior, During and After Meeting

Before meeting, the people who were the drug users were very nervous as if they were afraid of listening to the disease in front of many people.

During the meeting, the people were being relaxed since there was a comfort zone developed between the speaker and the audience by having some friendly talk.

After the meeting, everyone was so happy that the discussion went well, especially the speakers and the organizers.

The Narcotics Anonymous Program

Narcotics Anonymous is an entirely volunteer-based. Anyone who has a drug problem and seeking help can become a member of the group, no matter of what drugs or combinations of drugs he or she used. There is no required membership file. The principle of anonymity is one of the most important traditions of Narcotics Anonymous. There are no dues or fees. NA is financially independent and does not accept any contribution made by non-members.

Most members regularly offer small amounts in our meetings to meet the current expenses such as rent meeting rooms or purchase of literature; financial contributions, however, they are not mandatory.

The program which we attended in the state of Texas was based on a series of twelve step recovery program adapted from Narcotics Anonymous. These steps were to accept the reality of the drug problem, seek help, and find a good self-esteem, self talk confidentially to when possible.
