The four main types of marine habitats are as follows:

Mangroves

Mangrove habitats constitute of various halophytic plant species that are tolerant to salt, belonging to over 12 families and 50 different species around the world. The areas where mangroves grow are either estuarine or intertidal. These plants are usually exposed above water through a tangle of their roots, and these roots are compatible to filter salt water, with their leaves excreting salt. This allows them to survive compared to other plants on land (JNCC, 2012).
