Introduction

This paper will explore the typology between the Old Testament and the New Testament. Typology is defined as the phenomenon where the characters and events of the Old Testament are seen to be perfect types, models, or patterns of New Testament truths. The following typologies will be covered:

Passover meal and the Last Supper;

Abraham's preparation to sacrifice his son and Christ dying for our sins; and,

Abraham paying tithes to Melchizedek and the recognition of Jesus Christ as our priest who lives forever.

The typology of the Passover Meal and the Last Supper

The Passover meal has great importance for Christians as it is directly related to the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. As Passover has a great importance in the Old Testament and the Passover has direct evidence to Jesus Christ's Last Supper. In the book Exodus, it is observed that the Passover was commemorated as the liberation of Israelites from slavery in Egypt. In the gospels of the New Testament, it is clearly mentioned that Jesus Christ ate the Passover meal with His disciples on the night He was betrayed and taken to suffer for the sake of our sins. It is very important to notify that there was a specific reason behind the desire that Jesus Christ presented for eating the Passover with this disciple. It is very obvious by this verse that Jesus Christ always wanted to fulfill the will of his father "for I tell you I shall not eat it until it is fulfilled in the kingdom of God" (Luke 22:16).
