Introduction

California government is primarily divided in to three main elements, first, the executives which comprises of the state governor and all other elected members of the parliament. Second, is the legislative, which comprises of state fundamental pillars i.e. Assembly of the state, Senate, Judiciary which comprises of supreme and lower courts of the state(California Agency 2013). In addition to this, the government of the state works in communication with various agencies, commission, and governments of other states of California

In order to run the operations of the state the government permits straight contribution from different important members of state through referendum, recall, and other methods. The constitution of the state is considered as having the largest compilation of legal arguments of the globe that is of more than 110 pages(California Agency 2013). The essential structure of law in the state is known as republic that is ruled by the elected assembly members and is interpreted and implemented by the courts of the state for the well-being of the citizens of the state. Moreover, the legal system of California is termed as the most flexible legal system of the globe mainly because it allows members of parliaments and voters to bring necessary change in the constitution.

Department of the state

The government of the state comprises of various departments that were initially designed by the late Governor Pat Brown to reduce the work pressure from Governor and divide the responsibilities into the hands of capable people. In addition to government agencies, they are sometime referred to as “Superagencies” by the elected members of the state government. Some of fundamental department of California state government are listed as follows.

Mission of the state government

The mission of California state government is to provide safety, proper education, enhance living standard, health, and reduce risk and sustaining the overall environment of the state.

Strategic plan and goals

It is a historical fact that state government has always tried to accomplish its long-term mission by not only developing innovative plans and setting high standard goals but also have able to accomplish its set targets which is clearly visible from state phenomenal growth and development(Brown, 2013). Keeping in view the recent challenges that has surface particularly after the economic crises of 2008 the state government has formulate an affective strategic plan with high standards and is optimistic of transforming its plans into a state of reality. Some of the key features of current strategic plan of state are listed as follow.

Improve the environment of the state by introducing new technologies

Strengthening the policies for protecting state natural resources

Improving the standard of healthcare

Providing quality education to underprivileged children

Steps to reduce the emission of greenhouse gas

Develop urban areas of the state

Bringing sustainability in state economic environment
