Orbital and Outer Space

Introduction

In today's world, security remains one of the most important factors in international relations. There are new threats and risks faced by the international community as a whole and individual state in particular. In this new globalized environment, it is becoming more common for the latest technology to be capable of carrying both destruction and the need for security. Space is increasingly used by mankind to meet the diverse needs of this new development and it now depends on the economic condition of state and its security. In this area, they have leaders and one of them is the United States who has a very clear understanding of its space ambitions and formulating coherent space policy. In the 21st century, strategic use of orbital and outer space in the defence and security policies of major powers such as the U.S., China, Russia and India is taking place at a rapid place. There is a need for new treaties to ensure the peaceful use of space over the next decade. So, the scope of Space Technology is looking very bright and lots of efforts are needed for the development of this industry.

Main Body

On one hand, space is a factor in national security. There is extensive use for gathering information and resources to accommodate the shocking events. At the same hand, space becomes a sphere of conflict of interests of many powers that are justifiably recognized as the importance of space technologies and their uses. Those countries that had the space capability were only two superpowers that included USA and USSSR. It is now a cosmic ambition backed by major successes that has come from China, India and other countries. Moreover, China and India are beginning to explore and use outer space, which is active, and is possible in 20-30 years. In the past, USSR lost one of the three leaders of the space, which will include the U.S., China and India. Space remains open for exploration by other powers, including its use for military purposes.  The distribution of space technology enables countries to exert a certain pressure on the United States. Potential adversaries acquire the U.S. as soon as possible to mobilize their forces to coordinate their activities with each other, thus putting U.S. in a vulnerable position. All this makes the U.S. to have an active use in its space power, not allowing other space powers, primarily Russia and China to gain a competitive advantage in military space activities.  There are several areas of the military use of space in the interests of U.S. national security: information operations, control over outer space, just blowing out of space and missile defence. In each of these areas, it offers different operational and strategic capabilities. (Blomley, 1994)

Operations of Space Technology

The operation of missile defence system began in 1972 when the USSR and the USA signed the ABM Treaty. U.S. failed to convince the Soviet leadership to the destabilizing role of missile defence systems and the need to limit the scope of its ...
