Thales of Miletus

A Greek philosopher and mathematician (624-547 BC), was born in Miletus in Asia Minor and came from aristocratic families. He traveled in Egypt, knowing from near the ancient cultures of the people. Throughout his life remained single and devoted to theoretical and practical engagement with philosophy and other sciences. He was a multifaceted personality. He dealt with astronomy and mathematics, physics and philosophy.
