Peirce is considered as one of the founders of pragmatism. According to Peirce, the theory of pragmatism is basically the theory of meaning. He meant it to substitute or stand in contrast to various threads of idealism. Hhe was of the opinion that mere theory should not be a test of impact of beliefs in the actual world.
