Principles of Moral Behavior

Introduction

There are many ethical rules and laws that regulate behavior of the human being in which the most important and clear rules of behavior are the Commandments of God known as Ten Commandments. Even though, the social conditions were significantly different from the social conditions of the present era, but still, their importance, significance and authority has not declined. They were written thousands of years ago. On the contrary, with the passage of time, as our lives are occupied by more conflicting opinions regarding what is right for us and what is wrong, we realize that we need more and more of unambiguous and clear guidance and directions as to what to do from our Law-Giver and Creator (Alexander, n.d). The following paper discusses the Ten Commandments in detail that help in the improvement of human behavior and makes him a successful human being on earth and the life hereafter. These ten commandments set the foundations of well behaved human beings who follow the steps as prescribed in the religion by his God.

Discussion

People who are morally sensitive have always regarded the Ten Commandments of God with a lot of esteem. For a believer who practiced Christianity the commandments could be linked to a bright star that will guides a human being to the path of virtue and Heaven. (www.the-ten-commandments.org). These commandments tell a human being how to live peacefully and be a righteous man following the path of virtue.

While comparing and evaluating the commandments against the law of nature, we can detect a number of very interesting similarities as well as differences. For example, both of the laws have been originated from the same Divine Source. While one set of the rules regulates and controls the environmental events, the other set controls the behavioral factors. The difference between the two sets is that natural laws are essential and it is necessary to accept them as they are given to the human being, the moral laws can be followed according to the will of the people and they are free to choose their own path (Potapov, n.d). God has created the humans above all other creatures created by Him. On the contrary, this freedom also places on us a very big responsibility, and it also has the potential to become destructive and dangerous if not used properly as intended (Alexander, n.d).

A conscious and purposeful violation of the commandments of God leads the moral beings, whether humans or angels, to moral degeneration, a great anguish and suffering, spiritual bondage and sometimes even to a level of complete social destruction.

The revelation of the Ten Commandments of God is among one of the most important events mentioned in the Old Testament. With the happening of this event is related to another very significant occurrence, that is: the very formation and the basis of the Jewish economy. It was the start and establishment of the covenant that lead to the creation of Testament (Potapov, ...
