Principles of Selecting Educational Linguistic Material

Introduction

Linguistics is a broad field of study, contributing to various areas of expertise and concurrently benefiting from different domains. The same applies to language and its relations with various teaching methods that educators tend to adopt within their teaching practices. Based on a broad perspective on the entire science of linguistics, the basic aim behind the present research will be to analyze the various teaching methods particularly considering the principles of choosing educational linguistic materials (Creswell, 2007).

Patrick Dunn (2008) observed, “Language is a strange and mysterious thing: it bridges mind and matter, it comes from we-know-not-where, and it has a complex reciprocal relationship with our thoughts. No wonder it's such a ready tool for magic.” This magical nature of language can be discussed in more detail in the areas that seem to have little in common with mystical and supernatural issues, such as science and technology. The interest in the application of magic in various studies is partly related to the nature of modern times, being mercurial and characterized by sudden and phenomenal changes that sometimes escape easy explanation by individuals. What is more, language is magical itself because it is a sort of hidden power, the influence of which is often not noticed or is treated as of secondary importance in the study of different domains and the descriptions of various life situations.

Language links not only mind and matter but also serves as a bridging element among different scientific and technological studies because it allows for information flows among various knowledge sources. The role of language being the key that opens different doors to knowledge influences leadership because it offers educators a palette of different sources from which the most appropriate methods and tools can be chosen (Heidegger, Young, & Haynes, 2002).

For the present research, the formulated research question will deal with the investigation of the various teaching methods based on the principles of opting for the most appropriate educational linguistic materials. Additionally, the study will also aim to identify the differences in student's academics outputs and their grades which can be observed because of the utilization of varying teaching strategies.

Significance of the Study

The conclusions drawn from this research will help the educators in the identification and evaluation of their teaching strategies which would ultimately help them to further enhance their approaches and to modify the ones that they currently implement within the classroom setting. The present study holds immense significance, because, for any educational institution to progress efficiently, it is essential that strategic and effective mechanisms for promoting best learning outcomes are utilized. These applied mechanisms should be monitored and evaluated persistently to make appropriate amendments whenever required. Additionally, efforts for innovation and further enhancement of the teaching strategies should be made for promotion of the best student's learning experiences.

Research Methodology and Result

This section of the research study will highlight the methodology that will be adopted by the researcher. Cooper and Schindler (2003) noted that the selection ...
