Introduction

A successful project is the one that is perfectly planned and carry out from initiation phase till closure. The Project Initiation Phase holds an immense importance as serves as the conceptualization of the project. This requires leadership and critical skills for carrying out a proper project with effective planning and control. Initiation phase of a project specifies the goal that project should accomplish and the way to achieve those goals (DIS Arkansas Gov., 2005, p.1). Thus, an initiation phase of a project provides an adequate and effective plan for an overall project. So, this report provides a detailed and unique plan for an e-learning project, i.e. an online version of Salford Business School' MSc for students of commencing in September 2014.

Project Definition

Background

E-Learning is referred to the use of information communications technologies in order to provide sound educational opportunities to variety of students and facilitate them in developing the skills need to prosper in their professional life. E-learning has been increasingly recognized as one of the most significant areas in educational environment that can deliver substantial positive impacts. These effects include engaging more students and making enabling them to develop skills demanded by today's work environment. In addition, e-learning facilitates staff to have more positive attitude towards their work and makes them able to offer more personalized education. Furthermore, digital learning programs are also beneficial for economically disadvantaged or disabled children / students (Levy, 2006, p.22; Intel, 2012, p.1). Thus, various benefits are associated with e-learning and thereby its scope is rising day by day. Hence, new as well as already developed educational institutions are increasingly focusing on developing e-learning projects.

Audience

The e-learning project is directed towards the MSc students of Salford Business School commencing in September 2014. Therefore, the audience of this e-learning program will be school students. However, the project guidance is directed towards the project team that is intended to develop and implement this e-learning program. Thus, the audience of this project plan is the whole project team inclined towards developing and implementing an e-learning program successfully. In addition, the audience of project i.e. e-learning program will be MSc students of Salford Business School students commencing in September 2014.

Objectives

The objective of this initial phase project plan is to develop and represent the starting point of our e-learning program. This program is aimed at developing and illustrating the course material, staffing, marketing, and other elements relevant to the e-learning program for MSc students of Salford Business School. Thus, the objectives of this project are to develop initial phase of an e-learning project that includes project planning and control.

Expectations & Constraints

The project is expected to provide an effective guidance on what course material will be provided, how staff will be recruited, and how we will successfully market our e-learning program. In addition, it is also expected to provide a sound picture of project schedule as well as its ...
