Qualitative And Quantitative Research

Introduction

Qualitative and quantitative research methods primarily differ on the basis of analytical objectives of the proposed research. Hence both of these research strategies also differ as per the types of questions they pose, the instruments that are used for the data collection purpose, the form of the final data that is produced and the degree to which flexibility is built into the study design. Therefore, this paper in line with the problem statement will decipher the qualitative and quantitative research approaches in detail, plus the research questions under each approach will also be infused in the nomenclature of the paper.

Statement of the Problem

The purpose of this research paper is to identify and describe the dynamics of management issues associated with corporate malfeasance, while conjointly evaluating legislative strategies and maneuvers of The Sarbanes Oxley Act (SOX). Therefore, the primary objective is to identify financial monitoring, auditing disclosures, and reporting activities mandated by SOX, which are essential to judicious governance, ethical management, and transparency in the 21st century.

Discussion

Brief Insight into the law

The Act came into force in 2002, it is named on Senator Paul Sarbanes and Michael Oxley. The act of Sarbanes Oxley 2002, is created the new benchmark and standards for the corporate companies to make their auditing standards accountable with proper check and balance. It allows the corporate members of the company to coordinate and share with auditors and informed about the accounting facts and figure(Coates, 2007).

Qualitative Research Approach

The qualitative research can be defined as the studies that can provide details of the human behavior, personality characteristics and emotions that quantitative method is not able to provide. The data taken from the qualitative studies explains the qualities and features of the research variables. The description in the qualitative studies cannot be easily reduced to numbers, but they can be achieved by the process of encoding. The information included in the qualitative data is related to the behavior of the user, desires, routines, needs, use cases and various other type of information, which is beneficial for designing product actually fitting into lives of the users(Morgan, 2008).

Since the requirement of the quantitative research is data collection standardization for allowing statistical comparison, the requirement of the qualitative research is flexibility, allowing the response of the user's data as it appears in a session. Therefore, qualitative research adapts different forms of naturalistic observations such as structured interviews or ethnography. In these types of cases, it is the duty of the researcher to analyze and documents opinions, behaviors, pain points, needs, patterns and various other kinds of information without completely comprehending which data is more important. In the qualitative research, the researchers seek for trends in the data instead of performing a statistical analysis. In order to identify trends, the researchers analyze various statements of the research participants that are identical to their research.
