Introduction

Research methodology is a very important part of any research as it determines how valid and reliable the findings of a study are. It provides guidelines to conduct the research and to keep it on track. It is thus important for the researcher to explore the different methods that can be used to conduct a research and then select the most appropriate one. The methodology of a research plays a very important role in the whole research as it maps out the way for the researcher. It provides the researcher with guidelines and principles which keeps the research on track. Moreover, the research methodology also determines how reliable and valid the results are. This is because the research methodology determines which course of action is to be taken to collect the data, if the method used to collect data are not appropriate, the findings and conclusions cannot be relied on. It can thus be said that the research methodology is the most important step in a research (Orb et.al, pp. 93-96). There are mainly two types of research methodology which are Quantitative Qualitative research however; the purpose of this paper is to evaluate Qualitative Research and the reason that it is more appropriate for the present research.

Qualitative Research Methodology

A qualitative approach is defined as a multi-method approach that involves an interpretive and naturalistic approach to its subject matter in which the researcher studies things in their natural settings making an attempt to interpret a phenomenon in terms of meanings people bring to them. The qualitative approach is considered as a general term in order to investigate methodologies and emphasizing the significance to evaluate variable in natural setting in which they were made (Fossey et.al, pp. 717-732). The researcher seeks out to get a complete picture when carrying qualitative research and a holistic description of procedures, events, and philosophies that occurred in natural setting is mostly required for making an accurate decision according to the situation. The methods used to collect data for a qualitative research are also different as they include descriptive interviews, observations, case studies and other kind of narrative data that can be subjectively interpreted and require an in-depth analysis and explanation of the findings. The biggest advantage of using this approach is that it also takes in to consideration the impact of uncontrollable variables and the other patterns ...
