ABSTRACT

This study analyzed the repercussions of people with colostomy based on the bodies: and its impact on the individuals' social, practical, and professional life. It's a secondary research study of qualitative approach, based on the Life History Focal. The data was collected through various online libraries and databases overall collecting almost 12 journal articles from past 15 years. Then, we identified three major themes: the repercussions of information on impact of colostomy and sex life, the repercussions of living with colostomy on patients and its impact on patients psychological well being, and lastly the impact of a stoma on a patient's body image. We emphasize the importance of nursing role in the people's focus particularities with colostomy, considering the sociocultural context and the subjectivity of each one of them. The literature review also critically examines each of the article, on the basis of their research methodology, sample size, etc. to validate the information presented in each of the articles as reliable. Moreover, the literature review also looks to compare and contrast between the various articles used for this literature review on the basis of their findings, implications, and conclusions, and look to provide recommendations based on the comparison between the articles.

Aims and Objectives

The main aims and objectives of this study are to identify the problems that patients with stoma face everyday of their life and measure the effects of stoma on the patient's quality of life. Moreover, the literature review tries to identify three major themes from the articles selected to conduct the literature review, and look to compare and contrats their findings so as to provide recommendations for future studies. Furthermore, the literature reviews also attempts to validate the various article used to conduct the literature review based on the reliability of the methodology and sample size.

Introduction

When undertaking studies, researchers need to clearly express the research question, aim or objective. In this review only one study, states a specific research question that is concise, which is to look into the daily routine and life of patients with stoma or patients who recently had a colostomy. Moreover, this paper aims to look for answers through the literature about the quality of life of patient with a stoma or colostomy.
