Introduction

This discussion will highlight races in the US and elaborate how they are defined. This will be followed by an explanation of the manner in which Gill and Brace can be expected to explain the existence of individuals who do not fit neatly into American racial categories. This will be supported with examples. The discussion will also give special consideration to the connection between racism and the concept of race; as well as the perspective which considers racial discrimination to be an innate human tendency or learned cultural behavior.
