Outline of the Paper

Introduction

The topic of this study is elaborated in the introductory paragraphs of the paper. The introduction describes the significance of the recycling processes in the field of production management and operation management. In addition to this, in the introduction of this study, the technique of recycling is also provided. This technique is named as reverse logistics. This technique is widely used by the organizations in their production and operation management units. It is because of the reason that, this technique may enable the manufacturing firms or organizations, to manage the integrity of their production and operation management processes, while increasing their economical conditions, revenues as well as their integrity and reputation in the targeted market. In addition to this, the technique of reverse logistics may also enable the manufacturing firms to ensure the environmental sustainability, by reducing the emissions of several dangerous gases (Christopher, 2010).

Operation Management

The process of operation management is also discussed in the study. It is due to the reason that, it is necessary to understand the process of operation management, before understanding the application of recycling technique in this unit. Researches and studies demonstrate that, operation management is nothing more than the conversion of inputs in to the outputs or final products, by utilizing the physical resources of the organization (Gandolfo & Sbrana, 2008).

Production Management

Studies show that, production management is the phenomena which monitor the production activities, of any manufacturing firm or organization. In addition to this, it also describes that, whether the appropriate process of manufacturing is used by the production team or not (Kleindorfer, et.al., 2005).

Reverse Logistics- Recycling Technique in Production and Operations Management

This section of the study defines, one of the most innovative, advanced and widely used recycling techniques. Reverse logistics is one of the most beneficial and advantageous techniques of recycling which enables the production and operation management units of the manufacturing terms to recycle or recycle already processed products or services, in order to control or manage their operational cost while ensuring the customer satisfaction and environmental sustainability. Furthermore, this technique of recycling may also enable the organizations to increase their revenues (Christopher, 2010).

Benefits Offered by Reverse Logistics to Production and Operation Management

In this section of the study, all the benefits or advantages of reverse logistics are briefly discussed. These advantages may include economic benefits, saving of energy, prevention from pollution, conservation of natural resources and green environment.
