Introduction

This paper intends to discuss the significance of Rehabilitation within Corrections strategies. Rehabilitation is assumed to be one of the most important things related to the psychotherapy. There are several important aspects attached to the rehabilitation strategies. This particular paper is divided into two different sections. The first section will discuss the R N R Model and the GLM in relation with their different approaches towards offender psychotherapy. The first section tends to identify the best approach providing theoretical fitness for the discussion of R N R and GLM approaches for the purpose of providing offender treatment. The second section of this paper will explore the concept provided by Maruna in 'Making Good.' The phenomenology of desistance will be discussed under this section. It remains extremely important to realize that the phenomenology is basically related to the subjective experiences of different individuals. Every individual possess different viewpoints and thus their phenomenology of desistance differs. The approach of Maruna certainly helps individuals to inform the subjective experience of desistance. The purpose of this paper is to make the reader aware about the significance of rehabilitation within correction strategies through high lighting the R N R and GLM Model along with the phenomenology of desistance and subjective experience.

Discussion

This paper will explore different concepts related to the rehabilitation within corrections. R N R Model and GLM model in relation with offender treatment will be discussed in the first section. On the other hand, phenomenology of desistance and subjective experiences of individuals will be discussed in the second section. Both the sections together are mean to provide a deep routed analysis of different approaches in relation with offender psychotherapy. Rehabilitation efforts are directed towards the aim of providing effective treatments in order to stop the offenders from continuing to offend. Rehabilitation programs are also meant to focus on the reduction of violence within the societies. Criminal justice sanctions also provide clauses in relation with the offender psychotherapy (Babcock, Green & Robie, 2004).

R N R Model

RNR is basically a part of cognitive behavioral therapy which is intended to work against crime. This cognitive behavioral therapy provides thinking for change against crime. R N R Model is one of the programs and principles implied by cognitive behavioral therapy. R N R is basically Risk Needs Responsively Model. There are several programs and principles provided by the cognitive behavioral therapy in order to change the mentality to deal with the criminals. However, R N R and GLM are assumed to be most commonly known and recognized models in relation with the offender psychotherapy. Different interventions made during treatments have provided the researchers to conclude that there are number of impacts related with the treatments aimed at reducing the criminal recidivism for the purpose of adhering with the principles of R N R Model (Ward & Maruna, 2007).
