Survey & Action Research

The survey approach to research can be identified as one of the most common and popular tools in the context of the global research activities. It is an ideal research tool through which the analysis of various factors can be conducted for a large scale population. The biggest advantage of the survey based research is that it is a cost efficient and highly effective tool for reaching a large scale of population. Surveys can be conducted through the form of questionnaires, that can be provide to the population through various mediums such s mail, internet or etc. The disadvantage of using a questionnaire on the other hand can be identified as the lack of in-depth analysis. The surveys are not conducted through a personal or direct interactive basis; hence the respondent might not provide the adequate answers. In the context of the organization operations, the research activity has to be conduct in a strategic manner. In certain situations the organizations cannot wait for the research process, and hence has to conduct the reach during the process of change. This form of research is identified as the action research, in which the process of change and the research activity is conducted on a simultaneous manner (Sullivan & Goldmann, 2011, pp. 400). The advantage of this reach is the enhancement on the decision making process and the convenience factor. The disadvantage is the lack of time and the preparation for conducting the research activity.

Grounded Theory & Experimentation

Ground theory can be identified as innovative form of research in which the reverse hypothesis is developed. Unlike the conventional research activities, the first step of this research is based on the process of data collection. The researchers have to analyze the vast amount of collected data and highlight any from of trend or patterns. The basis of this theoretic methodology is that the researchers are not completely aware of the issue, and hence they cannot make an accurate hypothesis. They need to critically analyze the factors affecting the environment, in order to develop an effective hypothesis.

The process of experimentation is a research activity in which the validity of a given hypothesis is tested. The hypothesis are created in the basis of the relation between the dependent and the independent variables, hence the experimentations prove the reliability of the initial research. Through the process of experimentation the researcher can test whether the relation between the variables as stated by a given prior research exists or not. It is important for any research to have a strong level of external validity, which is created through the process of experimentation (Marchand et Al, 2011, pp. 46).

Case Study & Ethnography

The case study approach is focused one detailed research regarding a particular event, person or occurrence. In this form go research there is an extensive descriptive, exploratory or explanatory analysis implemented based on a particular factor. The case study approach is only conducing for a large scale dilemma which ...
