Research for Police Officers

Purpose of the Research

We will be conducting a research, in which our selected participants will be the police officers. The purpose of this research is to find out what are the factors that motivate the police officers. The main epitome of this research is to evaluate all those factors which enhance the job satisfaction and job performance of the police officers, and the factors through which motivate them about their job and make them perform with full honesty and loyalty (Babbie, 1989).

The second purpose of this research is to speculate all those reasons or factors which de-motivate them with their job performance and the hazards that spoil their level of motivation. These are two major researches through which we can analyze what satisfies or motivates the police officers and what hardships they face in tackling the hazards that create risks to their very lives (Babbie, 1989).

Type of Interview structure to be used

There is a quantitative structure that requires data that is already available. The data that contains values is used for predicting trends. Qualitative data, on the other hand deals with the data that is collected from the participants through various surveys and interviews. The interview structure that we will be using for our proposed research will be qualitative in nature. We will be using questionnaires and conducting interviews for our research purposes. We will be conducting our research for the first part by using a questionnaire which will be close-ended, relating to the job satisfaction of the police officers.

However, for the second part, which relates to the hazards that spoil the satisfaction and the motivational level of the police officers, we will be conducting face to face interviews with the police officers. The reason why we will be conducting a qualitative research is to get a clear insight of what the police officers feel about their jobs and the hazards that they face, which demotivate them. The data that we will obtain will only be used for research purposes. It will not be shared with any source outside (Epstein, 1988).

Questions that would be asked

These questions will be, as discussed before, close- ended for the first part that is the job satisfaction. However, for the second part, the questions will be open ended. The respondent would have options ranging from strongly disagree to strongly agree. The questionnaires will be distributed all over the state police headquarters. It will be a likert- scale. Through the questionnaire we will be asking the following questions to the respondents; (Epstein, 1988).

I am encouraged to come up with ideas and better methods of doing things

I get a feeling of personal accomplishment from my work

I have the proper resources for doing my job in a proper manner

The department that I work for keeps us well informed regarding the matters that are important for us

When a civilian is not satisfied, I can help in solving the problem

I can make the best use of my abilities and skills ...
