Introduction

The NEC is an “autonomous public commission that is responsible to conduct elections for all elective public offices and to administer and enforce all elections laws throughout the Republic of Liberia” (NEC, 2006, p. 11). The 1986 Constitution of Liberia established the National Election Commission and empowers the president of Liberia to appoint seven (7) commissioners with seven years tenure of service. The biggest aspect that has a lot of value is the selection of the chairman of the National Election Commission. It is important to assess the leadership skills of the person as he has to lead the important organization in future. This is the reason why a former chairman of the National Election Commission had been selected for the interview. He described important requirements related to the leadership style in the National Election Commission. Therefore, all the important aspects related to the Leadership Theories will be discussed in detail.

Leadership Interview

It was an important exercise to select the Former Chairman of the National Election Commission in order to gather maximum information required for the leadership. Those people who do not have the leadership skills cannot be considered for the post of Chairman of the National Election Commission. This is not an easy job and only the employee who has suitable leadership skills can perform the tasks in the best possible manner. Therefore, the interview helped in getting useful information related to the Leadership Styles, Theories and various other factors that can contribute effectively towards the organization.

Literature Review

Leadership is the process of influencing the activities of an organized group toward goal achievement. A resource is rare all over the world. Every culture and every group has a need for a role model, i.e. a leader, which could show them the way to success. Experts agree that field like technology, medicine, business, education, and industry, etc have a requirement for such people who would have the ability to utilize their creativity, intelligence, and judgment power and show them the right path to achieve success. Therefore, there are different aspects of the Leadership that will be discussed in detail.

Leadership Style

The momentum toward a data based decision making model for the organization's administration provided the necessary impetus for changing to a different leadership model and a new accountability system. The concept of the transformational leadership and team performance model originally became interesting to American researchers with the resurgence of the Japanese educational and business cultures of the 1980s. The transformational leadership and team performance model was a rethinking of traditional Japanese hierarchies, and in the United States became largely an adaptation of the successful Japanese model of management, pioneered by Deming. The 1980s produced new corporate cultures that valued flexibility, quality, customer service, and motivate d employees. All the traits and leadership skills lead to leadership styles.
