Aortic stenosis

Aortic stenosis

Introduction

This paper aims to discuss Aortic stenosis which is a heart disease. Typically, aortic stenosis seen in adults, but can occur in children. Children with aortic stenosis observed the same symptoms as adults.

Discussion

Aortic stenosis of the aortic valve - is heart disease, which is marked narrowing of the valve between the left ventricle and the aorta. With aortic stenosis, the left ventricle has to exert more effort in order to pump blood through the body. Gradually, if time does not hold surgical correction of heart disease, left ventricular failure develops, it weakens, and its walls thicken and may be result as a heart failure. In marked aortic stenosis usually requires surgery, most of all - it's an artificial valve replacement. The consequences can be severe for the untreated patients of this disease.

Symptoms of aortic stenosis

Aortic stenosis in its severity can range from mild to severe. Usually, the symptoms of aortic stenosis occur when there is a fairly marked narrowing of the aortic valve. They include:

•Chest pain or a feeling of constriction in the chest

•A feeling of weakness

•Shortness of breath, especially with exercise

•Fatigue, especially during high stress

•Palpitations

•Heart murmur (auscultation)

The weakness of the left ventricular myocardium can lead to a gradual rise of heart failure. Signs of heart failure include fatigue, shortness of breath and swelling in the legs. In the beginning, aortic stenosis can not show anything special, as a result of the patient suspected that heart disease can be difficult. Usually the diagnosis is detected on routine examination of the heart for another reason (for example, during auscultation of the noise in the heart). Heart murmur in aortic stenosis can occur long before the onset of clinical symptoms. Manifestations of aortic stenosis depend on the degree of narrowing of the aortic valve, and this defect can not in any way show, show some fatigue or chest pain.

The causes of aortic stenosis

Aortic stenosis - is narrowing of the aortic valve. This valve, which has three doors, prevents backflow of blood from the aorta into the left ventricle when it relaxes, and thus, provides a constant adequate blood flow in the systemic circulation. The causes narrowing of the valve can be different:

Congenital

Congenital aortic stenosis is a condition where a child is born with a defect in the aortic valve. It should be noted that this is a rare malformation. Other congenital malformations of aortic valve is bicuspid aortic ...
