A classic example of scheduling failure can be seen in the project known as the Central Artery/Tunnel Project (CA/T), which is famously known as the Big Dig. This was supposedly designed to be a megaproject in the area of Boston that was meant to reroute the Central Artery, which was the Interstate 93 and the main highway passing through the main areas of the city, into a tunnel that was 3.5 mile (5.6 km) in distance (Boston Globe, 2008).
