Abstract

Sex related homicides are common in the sociiety and are prevalent at a extensive level. There are several motives which are related to the sexual homicide of the people. Emotional, pshychoogical behavior and the attitudes of the people determine the way of killing and committing homicides. The killer in this type of homicide is usually a male profile who usually seeks female or children for the pleasure and eventually end up in the act of homicide. Mostly children suffer from the act of child abuse and while these acts are committed innocent lives are lost mainly due to the sexual desires of the killer. In most of the cases where the victim is killed is the fear of the attacker who kills the victim because of the fear of his identity being revealed. This paper explains the motives of the people behind sexual assaults and killings and why they take place. It also explains the treatment of the individuals who are sufferring from such tendencies. It also provides a detail review of the sex related homicides.

Sex Related Homicides

Introduction

Sexually oriented interpersonal violence cases as well as other acts of sexual perversion and killings, serial murders and rape-murders that involve both oral and anal sodomy are included in sex related homicides. Upon the body of the victim or in the crime scene, when a sexual activity is found as evidence then a homicide is categorized as 'sex-related' (Geberth, 2003). It involve cuttings to the body or multiple stabbing, such as, over-kill type injuries, throat slashing and slicing wounds across the abdomen of the abdomen that are accepted as highly suggestive of a sexual motivation, evidence of substitute sexual activity, like, masturbation, symbolism, ritualism and/or fantasy, sexualized positioning of the body, evidence of sexual mutilation and/or sexual injury, evidence of seminal fluid in, or near the body and lack of or the type of attire on the victim.

The killer a male, young children and females are usually the victim of these crimes. However, heterosexual as well as homosexual relationships are involved in the sex related homicides. At the crime scene, even without an observable sexual activity or an overt sex, sexual implications are included in the homicide. In an organized crime 'hit', a drug related murder or a robbery-homicide, the reason or motive for the killing are not always clear-cut presented or readily discernible, unlike in other murders. Sex-crime is considered by the investigator if the body of the victim is of a female and is found in a partially clothed or in a nude condition.
