Skills and Learning Statement

Introduction

The skills and learning statement will enable me to demonstrate my communication skills and mu graduate skills of self reflection. It will also help me to reflect upon my performance in the following areas:

The use of Information Technology

Communication skills

Gathering information and referencing it

In addition to this, it would grant me the privilege of discussing my experiences, how it will help me in the future and most importantly the relationship I established with my project mentor.

SLS focuses on answering the following four questions:

Reflect on what you have learnt from the meetings with your project mentor, including the presentation that you gave to your project mentor?

To what extent do you think you have achieved the RAP research objectives you set?

How have you demonstrated your interpersonal and communication skills during the project work?

Reflect on how undertaking the RAP helped you in your accountancy studies and/or current employment role?

Question 1

What did I learn from the meetings with my project mentor and the presentation I gave?

Mr. [mentor's name here] proved to be an excellent mentor. He was an excellent choice due to his philanthropic personality. Without his sincerity, help, assistance and guidance my project could not be what it is. He has played a pivotal role in the accomplishment of this challenging task.

Meeting 1

Our first official meeting was held on 25 February, 2013. Prior to this meeting, I had to dedicate a significant amount of time in deciding which project areas to go for, and the organisation I wish to conduct my research. Although it was an initial stage, but I decided to brainstorm ideas and search for organisations on which I could find the maximum amount of information. In my pursuit of perfection, I decided to opt for an organisation which can be researched on via primary and secondary means. End of April was determined as the deadline hooping that the date is realistic. A major portion of our first meeting was dedicated to the discussion of the topic I chose and the organisation I opted for. I briefed him on the plan I had made which he very much appreciated. My mentor questioned me the reasons for going for Topic 8 and the companies Apple and Nokia in particular. He was also curious to know the approach I have taken to gather information.

Meeting 2

Our second official meeting was held on 18 March. Prior to the meeting, I had communicated the agenda of the meeting to him. This was helpful as my mentor had mentally prepared answers for possible queries. By the time, we had our second meeting I had performed an extensive research on the organisation I had opted for and had performed some initial assessment too.
