The apartheid was the system of segregation racial South Africa and Namibia, then part of South Africa, in force until 1992.
It was so called because it means "separateness" in Afrikaans, German language, derived from Dutch, spoken mainly in South Africa and Namibia.
This system was basically the creation of separate both housing and studio or recreation for different racial groups in the exclusive white power to exercise voting and ban marriages or even sexual relations between white and black spots.
Its purpose was to retain power for the white minority, 21% of the population, which, otherwise, would have lost their privileged position. Remained in force until the nineties, being in 1992 the last time I voted only fully white. Before the victory of the National Party in 1948 blacks could vote but with many restrictions. In theory, this system basically consisted of dividing the different racial groups to promote the "development". All this movement was led by the race White, who introduced all kinds of laws covering generally social aspects. A racial classification according to appearance, social acceptance or ancestry did. This new system was speed and resistance from non-white citizens.
Apartheid (meaning "separate lives" in Africa) was an apartheid regime that denied blacks of South Africa (Republic of South Africa) the social, economic and political. However, segregation existed in South Africa since the seventeenth century, when the region was colonized by English and Dutch, the term Apartheid legally used in step 1948.
The Apartheid regime was controlled by whites of European origin (Dutch and English), which created the laws and ruled for the interest of the minority white population. A black resident was imposed laws, rules and systems of social control.
Major characteristics of Apartheid are mentioned as follows:
Prohibition of marriages between blacks and whites.
Prohibition of movement of blacks in certain areas of cities.
Creation of bastions for the segregation of black people. With the implementation of such policy resulted in exclusion of blacks from their property and displacement of Blacks in huge numbers.
Segregation of the black population in the use of certain public services: Drinking Fountains, public toilets, public mobility (buses, trains, etc.).
Creation of a differentiated system of education for black people.

It is among policy that if a black man rapes white man he could get punishment of death sentence, but on the other hand if white man rape a black it is routine of life and it is regarded as normal and no action is taken.
