Spearman Correlation Coefficient

Introduction

Spearman correlation coefficient is a highly significant statistical method that ascertains the association between two rank variables. In the case of this article, the spearman rank correlation coefficient is utilized according to the research variables adopted in the research study. Throughout this paper, we would look to determine the rationale behind adopting this approach. In addition, we would look to determine the alignment of spearman rank correlation coefficient with the particular research variables adopted (Yilmaz, Aslam, & Robertson, 2008).

Discussion

The article understudy looked to discover a relationship in the context of two different research questions. The first research question pertains to a statistical analysis of the relationship between patient satisfactions specifically in the case of acute care hospitals. The second research question pertains to the patient satisfaction between inpatient admissions in the case of non teaching and teaching hospitals. Thus, the research variables would mainly pertain to answering these two research questions. For the purpose of data collection, non teaching and teaching hospitals formed as research variables, which effectively augmented, the research purposes. For the purpose of carrying out this kind of research, we used a five year period from 1999 to 2003. Primary research is implemented by collecting data through questionnaires (Norman, 2010).

Research Variables

Thus, the variables used in this kind of research are nurses, mechanisms of admission, diagnosis, treatment, as well as the family, visitors and rooms. As in the case of administering research through primary data collection methods, we also used a likert scale ranging from 1=poor to 5=very good. The study variables used for this kind of research were highly essential because of the fact that these research variables have a significant role to play. The research variables such as nurses, processes, patients have a huge part to play in the ...
