Favourite Types of Food, Games and Sports of School Kids in Dubai

Abstract

The study is based on favourite types of food, sports and games among school kids in Dubai. The objective of research is to identify and to be acquainted with what are the favourite types of food liked by kids and also what are their favourite activities in sports and games. Te data of the study is collected through questionnaire from school kids in Dubai with the sample size of 83; moreover, SPSS 19 is used to apply the statistical tests. The results of the study revealed that favourite sport is swimming and favourite game of kids is football. The results of the study presented that playing sport in free time is not associated with the favourite sports of school kids in Dubai. Besides it, favourite food of kids in Dubai is traditional food with no vegetables and fast food. The study found that cooking at home and lunch or dinner prepared at home for the family is not associated with favourite food of school kids in Dubai.

Development of taste preferences begin in the childhood and continue throughout the rest of a person's life. In this view, preference of food is a vital issue particularly for kids. Preference of food is connected with the all parts of the kids' development. Food is an element which has connection with their level of soundness. As a case, a kid with the right adjust of sustenance has a greatly improved risk of fabricating a more strong establishment of their mind action and working capacities as they act like an adult. In this manner, a kid who has a habit of having low cholesterol and fat, have better risks of anticipating a heart attack; regardless of the fact that coronary illness is hereditary. Kids require energy in order to keep both their mental and physical working (Chan, 2005).

Children themselves can properly regulate the amount of food we eat on the basis of internal signals such as hunger, appetite and satiety. When they are not overly controlled, they instinctively eat what is best for them and in a way works best for them. Most children eat a new dish after 10 to 15 approaches; the news reacts suspiciously and accepts it with time and as experience. Taste preferences of children between 2 and 8 years are similar as it should not be limited to children accessing various dishes due to the fact that they are too small (Geraldi & Macreadie, 2013). Moreover, adults eat a little bit of everything, because they think that they paid for the food and believe that it is healthy.
