Strategic Public Relations Plan for Tesco

Introduction

The basic objective of this area is to create the best and most effective of communicating patterns in order to capture and retain customers and client, be it be an individual customer, suppliers, vendors or even mega corporations, contributing towards profitable customer relationship management, resulting in strategic alliances.

Company in Focus

We shall pertain to adopt the attempts made by Tesco, UK's market leader in retail grocery business, playing a strong role upon both a local and international level. With competitive strategies chalked and crafted for today as well as for tomorrow, Tesco is expected to give away substantial profit yields and outstanding performance in terms of corporate sustainability and portfolio management to create stronger, profitable relationships.

Challenges faced in strategic planning: From a consultant's viewpoint

One must understand and comprehend in today's modern world of rapid development and expansion, creating and maintaining a sustainable, effective and competitive strategic plan is an art to establish. Creating smart goals and dealing with contingencies is amongst the most important traits that corporations and business tycoons must analyze in order to maintain their position and hold their ground in the industry (Aaker & Joachimstaler, 2000, pp.225).

To understand the retail industry, one can easily excerpt from the happenings around the world that food and grocery are slowly and gradually in the growth stage of their lifecycle. In the case of Tesco, it has become a giant to the extent that its profit-making capabilities may yield endless and heavy returns, creating more avenues to enter unexplored markets, thus strengthening international presence on a global and international platform (Andersen, 2008, pp.44).

Diversification: The tool of sustainability

One of the most timely and effective efforts that Tesco, being a global organization has taken in order to become what it is today is the step of diversification. Diversification implies the phenomenon where the company has fallen short of utilizing its home sources and pertains to enter into new avenues and creating a strong footing in unexplored markets. As a consultant, it must be highlighted that diversification mustn't be rushed at any given span of time; the attempt to undertake diversification is when the home or parent country has made enough presence and cannot contribute to add more to the company's operations itself (Ball, 2001, pp.55).

Once decided on whether the company should pursue or not pursue diversification, the next attempt would entail 'what and how much is to diversify in the company?' In the case of Tesco, the company has made and undertaken significant measures for creating a two-fold strategy: one level was static, which covered the current efforts and attempts that are being made by companies and organizations, while the other is dynamic, which focused upon the future attempts and projected outcomes achieved and gained once those efforts were being undertaken (Ballantyne, Warren & Nobbs, 2006, pp.339).
