Teacher Career

Introduction

Teaching requires a strong commitment and dedication towards work. For an excellent teacher, it is important to understand the psychology of students especially children and young students. I have been associated with Northville high school for 3 years now as an English Teacher. I love the profession of teaching and have been practicing teaching for many years now. Even in my university days, I used to teach school children. Now, I want to teach scouts on how they act in various situations to get desired results.

David Alkind Theory

He proposed that children require an understanding of complex situations and problems. Teaching young students of scouts is not an easy task, as the teacher has to show strong commitment and willingness to address the problems and handle them.

Teachers act as mentors to the students. They could learn about the strength and weaknesses of an individual and could assist them accordingly. A skilful teacher must understand the problems faced by students in learning and treat each student equally. For a teacher, it is important to assume that children do not understand the subject, and they do not have prior understanding of the subject. In this way, teacher will ensure that each student learns from the concepts taught in the class. In order to achieve this target, the teacher must be cooperative and friendly with the students, which enhances the student's interest in the subject. Once students are interested in the subject, they will take keen interest and try to participate and study prior to the lecture.

The dangers in deriving an ideal set of teacher values for effective teaching include the tendency to confuse personality with 'character' (values), and typical values with appropriate values. One stunning image is that of the teacher who is approachable, charming, enthusiastic and possessing a strong sense of humor. It may well be however, that some students prefer a teacher who exhibits the opposite, that is, one who is distant, phlegmatic and humor less, as this teacher may produce better ...
