The role of media in today's world is certainly a backbone for any culture and tradition to survive. It is no doubt that many cultures and traditions that we know today is only because of the high influence of media and also because the effect of media is very powerful in that particular culture. The contemporary media in the same way has influenced the viewers a lot as it provides instant coverage and results of the viewers and also very effective in providing deep impact on emotions. The study will help to analyze the cultural and historical contexts of contemporary media and also its significance in today's world.

Aims and objectives

The presence of normal or old media of radio and newspapers etc, the creation of contemporary media shows that there was something which was lacking and needs to be improved (Joseph, 2011).. According to Borgmann, “There is a characteristic way in modern technology of trying to accomplish this assurance of technology. Modern technology efforts to make human beings prosperous and autonomous by creating commodities that are accessible to them in a method that is ubiquitous, safe, instantaneous and easy”. This means that the modern technology is contributing to the betterment of human kind and making our lives easy to live. In many cases, our lives are in safe hands due to the emergence of modern technology. The technological advancement has made our lives easy, accessible and brought our loved ones closer to us by means of creating new and sustainable ideas that stay for long. By this, we can stay everywhere in a single second.

Beniger (1986) wrote, “Contemporary media provides corporate interests in controlling large-scale systems of transportation, production, distribution and usage. However, I am not anxious here with benefits to corporate users, but only with reimbursement to individual users.”

Here Beniger means that, the large scale production, which can be any factory or a mill where there is a production going on and the transportation, either air, by road or on wheels have the corporate media interest of controlling. He says that there should be equal benefit to the individuals rather than the whole benefit going for the corporate users.
