ABSTRACT

The purpose of this study was to explore the role of motivation in Capgemini, Kolkata India. The research utilized the concept of motivation as a determining factor that could reduce employee attrition within the company, and can lead to greater level of employee satisfaction. Iinterpretations about motivation bear a strong form varying research designs, approaches and objectives. It has been universally agreed that the study of motivation is critically essential in order to know about the employees' perception of their jobs and to demonstrate an understanding about its improvement, as well. The prominence of motivation in Human Resource Management and the strategies to reinforce motivation among the employees have been historically derived from a series of theories and studies. This research was conducted to see if the employee attrition at Capgemini could be reduced if the motivation of its employees is boosted. One of the goals of management in enhancing motivation was found to be an increment in its productivity, which can be attained through reinforcing and assessing employee performance. Motivation is therefore, a factor that contributes towards employee performance and professional growth. Motivation is achieved when companies see their employees as individuals, independent of whether they are "workers", specialists in one area or dedicated to a task or discipline considerations require the human realm. This thought is closely linked with the idea that the authorities, while treating everyone equally, must not neglect the individualistic traits of the employees. Each case of their grievance or satisfaction from the work must be catered in a personalized manner, giving each individual his due share of attention and reaction. Loss of motivation affects not only in personal life, but also, and more powerfully, professionally and that is where they spend more hours. Therefore, it is vital that people are motivated in place and working environment. We must find a way to turn these conflicts and adverse situations that end up blowing up the good working environment, in real opportunities. In the context of employee performance and retention mechanisms, the psychology at work should seek to adopt a critical social position, fostering the consciousness of the workers as individuals and as a group, identifying their individuality, the environment around them, their group membership, the organization in they develop, and certainly its social ...
