The Logistic behind transporting perishable foods via aviation

Introduction

The purpose of this study is to expand the boundaries of our knowledge by exploring some relevant facts and figures related to the delivery of perishable food via American airline. Transport-is a separate set of activities involving the movement of persons and property by appropriate means (e.g., car, airplane, rail, ship, etc.). Transportation allows the movement of perishable goods between places where goods arrive transposed to form a bridge between the buyer and seller. The transport service provider, which provides for companies that service, has an impact on the efficiency of the objects belonging to it in the supply chain (Murphy & Woodm, 2008).

The choice of means of transport has a major impact on the price of perishable products, timely delivery to the recipient, and the condition of the goods when transposed. This affects customer satisfaction. We can distinguish five modes: transport by rail, aircraft, trucks, ships and pipelines. For their selection takes into account the speed, frequency, efficiency, reliability, access and cost. If speed is the most important, the best option is air or road transport. If the main criterion is a low cost than the best choice is by sea or by pipeline. Road transport fulfills most of these criteria. Shippers (or the person or company involved in the reward of things) combine two or more modes of transport through containerization (Kochersperger, 2008). In this paper, we will examine the importance of air transport in the delivery of perishable foods.

Discussion & Analysis

American Airlines

When it comes to perishable products, some of which may be of high value, the selection of the appropriate transportation mode is critical. American Airlines Cargo offers a full range of precision shipping products. All of their products are flight specific, which means that the shipment will fly as booked. Flight specific products allow the customer to know the precise routing, status and availability time of your shipment.

American Airlines terminal at JFK in New York is the size of two football fields and the temporary warehouse for import and exports. It serves as a major regional transport hub and generates much income for the Port Authority.

The warehouse workers at American Airlines have a first-hand view of what is timely and what is being transported via air -- whether it be fabrics from Milan for fashion, porcini mushrooms, lobsters, or even generic drugs from abroad. When the patents on drugs expire, these warehouse workers see increased shipments of generic drugs.

Air transportation of Perishable food products

American Airlines ensure the delivery of fresh products via cargo plane or in the area available for loading of a passenger plane. The amount that can be sent varies by aircraft and space and can be up to 45 tons. Many aircraft use load-based units of containers to suit the contours of the winery, but also carry goods in individual packages. Often used thin aluminum pallets covered with safety nets that are moved on rollers (Elias, ...
