Introduction

In American society, gender inequalities are common and women seem to have substantial gains in the discipline of education. Academically, women now break men's record in all school levels and are more likely to gain college degrees and register in graduate school. The increasing gender gap in American schools somehow offers new strategies for improving schooling outcomes for both male and female. If we glance over the big picture, we will come to know that girls overtook boys in college attendance and can complete this phase due to multiple factors. This paper intends to analyze the rise of education in women in America through different sociological approaches, such as symbolic interaction approach, structural-function approach, social-conflict approach, feminism approach and gender conflict. Moreover, it will further discuss how women in education greatly affected on social boundaries.

Discussion Analysis

The increasing gender gap in American education system holds certain questions that how women widened this gap and what social factors allowed them to cross boy's ratio in education sector. Different structural changes are behind this huge change of gender distribution, particularly, the rise in family instability, changes in marriage patterns, and the different educational incentives for both women and men emerged as a consequence of modern education gender gaps (DiPrete & Buchmann, 2013).
