Theme Based Restaurants

Introduction

Theme restaurants are designed to provide customers an entertaining experience along with meals. After gaining popularity in the early to mid 1990s, theme restaurants began to decline in market share. The key for business success is to identify the basic principles that comprise the fundamental nature of the activities and how people interact and react with outsiders to own business. Similarly, success of restaurant depends upon the customer satisfaction and successive return intent of customers. The four attributes of theme restaurant such as food quality, service quality, atmosphere and novelty can be used for determining the customer satisfaction and their influence on return intent (Weiss et al., 2004). The concept of theme restaurants takes priority over everything else in terms of influencing the architecture, music, food and over all ambiance of the restaurant. The food of the restaurant takes back seat regarding the presentation of the theme and restaurants mainly attract customers through various kinds of entertainment that are provided to the customers through its theme. In present world, dinner alone is not enough; there is the option to combine dinner and entertainment at a handful of restaurants. Restaurant is seen by customers as a product. Restaurant business is composed of number of tangible and intangible factors that are in full combination in terms of product for the customer and business for the entrepreneur (Fullen, 2003).

Adding various entertainments to restaurants can impact revenue towards business, in terms of increase in sales figures, building loyalty in customers and word of mouth. Restaurants can provide their customers with best dishes, but if they do not provide them with the environment they are looking for they will lose their customer share (Heung, 2002). At present, customers do not visit restaurants only for food rather they want to have a place where they can relax after their office hours or to spend their evenings experiencing the entertainment provided to them.
