Themes in Paul's Epistles

Themes in Paul's Epistles

Introduction

The assignment aims on reflecting the three important themes from Paul's Epistles that are significant in my church as well as in my personal life. These themes are faith, grace and resurrection. These themes are significant in my church and I try to follow the messages given to us through these themes.

Faith

Faith plays an important role in the life of Paul. Paul's conversion to Christianity from Judaism is due to the faith and believes that the way to God is through Jesus the Messiah. Faith is about believing God. Faith also involves viewing the proof of that conviction through act. The author of Hebrews, Paul (as believed by many scholars), it is demonstrated beautifully in the words of him: “Without faith it is unattainable to gratify Him…” (Hebrews 11:6) The faith chapter is known by Hebrews 11, and like classic Paul (as found in Romans), greatly leaning on the scriptures of Old Testament to put together his position. In New Testament, Paul's letter was written to Christians on the importance of Faith (Seifrid, 1992). Paul's message was very clear. According to Paul, Salvation comes by trusting in Jesus. Paul taught people (and those of early disciples) through his letter that salvation comes through trusting in Jesus. The need for faith was often illustrated by Jesus (Luke 18:8), and those who demonstrate it must require one to spoke to them movingly favorably. Jesus said to the women who was healed that “her faith has made her well.” (Matthew 9:23)

Paul's letter gave us great lessons on faith. As a Christian, I believe on the work and teachings of Jesus Christ and my church gave us the same lessons. Faith is important as it leads to an active life in alignment with the ideals. Faith leads to example of the life of the Jesus. My faith in Jesus Christ leads me to a change towards positivity. Faith plays an important role in my life as it leads me to true happiness. Faith gives me a purpose of life. Having a firm faith in Jesus Christ will take you to the solutions in every difficult problem. Without faith, I don't think my life would be that easier as it is now. Paul's letter about faith gave us a clear vision of why we should be thankful as Christians. “Justified by Faith” was a very important concept given to us by Paul. My church also gave us strong messages and lessons on faith and as a Christian I believe that being justified by death will require complete obedience from the heart.

Grace

Paul is well-known for his “peace and grace” greetings. These greetings from the Jesus Christ appear in almost all his salutations and also in few of his benedictions. Around some 90 times the word “grace” appears right through Paul's epistles. “For by grace you have been saved through faith...” the best known Paul's assertion (Ephesians 2:8). Here, justification/salvation, faith and grace are ...
