Conflict Resolution Training

Conflict is a normal part of any relationship. Sometimes they are even considered healthy for some relationships. Dealing with conflicts and managing to resolve them can be a crucial procedure. Conflicts mainly arise when there is a difference of opinion between people. The disagreement can start over the difference in values, different mind sets, motivation, desires or even different ideas (EDCC, 2013).

Conflicts can easily arise among youngsters as well specially students studying at Universities or Colleges. There should be proper training and guidance given to the students at Universities/Colleges to seek success in Conflict Resolution. They should consider various different training and counseling methods for students like, facilitation, mediation and conflict training. Conflict Training can involve techniques like reflective listening, assertion, mirroring and communication skills that can help in achieving satisfactory results for both parties that are involved in the conflict.

The Universities and Colleges must carry out regular training and workshops for students to learn conflict resolution skills and also help in the collaboration of different students through interactive activities (Utexas.edu, 2013).

In order to achieve a healthy and peaceful atmosphere for students in Universities and Colleges, the specialists or the trainers that are in charge of conflict resolutions, they should study carefully and understand the components that bring about conflict, such as cultural conflict, gender differences, social classes, different religions etc.

Universities and Colleges must encourage participation from all the staff and faculties to collaborate to work together in the conflict resolution programs.
