Introduction

The film draws its name from a well-known group of African-American pilots who served during the World War II. Although Tuskegee Airmen was the 332nd group of Fighter pilots and overall, was the 477th Bombardment group of the United States Army Air Corps before Tuskegee Airmen, there was not any African-American which sees trustworthy by the authorities that they will prove fruitful during the Battle. African-American in the 20's and 30'ssuffered racism both inside and outside the armed forces (Thole, 2002). Tuskegee Airmen revolves around the emotions rather film plays on emotions of the audiences it tends to highlight the injustices done to the African-Americans in general and specifically in the armed forces. The film also speaks about the achievements of those African-American individuals who served in the World War II. Tuskegee is a group, which comprises of, all African Americans who faced invariable chauvinism on two accounts, first as individuals and second as a group before they achieved the success and that too with distinction.

All the group members of Tuskegee Airmen had to work twice as hard as their Non-Africa-American counterparts. This film successfully depicts overall situation in regards to the racism. Prior to the group, none of the African American was able to make it into the U.S Military as a pilot. The laws of the time also helped the racial segregation to increase, which obviously was the hurdle in the way of uniting the armed forces which was the great need of the hour. Not only the segregation was at the peak but also the bigotry against the African-Americans saw its peak. Military units of the African-Americans were separate and headed by the white officers. It was in 1941 when due to changes in the law of the Land that the army agreed to constitute a fully black combat unit, such moves did not excite the War Department reluctantly took the action.
