Introduction

The Tuskegee airmen were the first group of airmen who flew in a black military unit for the army of the United States. However, it was a notorious choice to set up a training school for black pilots took place on January 16, 1940. The school was established in the town of Tuskegee, Alabama, hence got his nickname. NAACP (The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People); however, the creation of the squad through the Department of war, was due to increased pressure from the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP). However, other organizations that pushed for opportunities for African Americans in the United States armed forces. The Tuskegee airmen were also known how's the "Red Tails" because of the red paint on the tails of its aircraft, used in Tuskegee, as trademarks to identify students.

The Tuskegee Airmen were young soldiers, determined to indulge their passion and become an example to their brethren of color, overcame the difficulties and prejudices in an age when many people thought that blacks were less intelligent than whites. From all states, they were determined to defend their country and demonstrate their high degree of patriotism. Those who possessed the physical and mental abilities to become pilots, navigators and bombers were selected to form the first class of cadets. The others had to learn the various trades required to operate a unit in the country since the mechanics to dealers through the various administrative positions. Have well over 10 000 men in total will be recruited through the establishment of an Afro-American air force.

The Tuskegee Airmen have had a real dedication, following the determination of men who enlisted to become the first black military airmen in America, while many people thought they lacked intelligence, skill, courage and patriotism to become a pilot. They came from all corners of America; each had a strong personal desire to serve their country. Amongst which, Lieutenant Colonel Benjamin Oliver Davis, Jr. sent the first class of Tuskegee Airmen's you graduated. Over 1500 flew bomber escort missions and destroyed hundreds of enemy aircraft without losing a bomber under their protection. Captain Charles B. Hall was the first African American to shoot down an enemy plane. It will not be wrong if one may say that the U.S. black pilots flew, fought and died for their country, while at home, were denied the most basic civil rights.

Discussion

During World War II, the "Tuskegee Airmen" made more than 150,000 sorties over North Africa and Europe. They escorted Allied bombers and were known as the Red Tail Angels, shot in the air some 250 enemy aircraft destroyed and 150 on the ground. Many documents prove their bravery and no loss of aircraft can be attributed to them.
