Introduction

The public usually dispute that the overall quality of mass communication, however, only the “Quality” has declined since mid nineties. The ratio of the “sensational” and “serious” news was falling; on the other hand, the ratio of entertainment to information was rising. In the contemporary discussion, some go so far as to say that we are along with other crisis, in political communication crisis too. Others argue that the journalistic system is out of order. This is due to the fact that market competition is rising even in mass communication field (Emery,1996).

This essay argues the quality of news and value of mass communication in reporting sexual assault cases. Some blame the value of personal dispositions of mass media reporters, while others cite the takeover of the numerous mass communication enterprises by profit maximization organizations. However, we are not only to blame the market competition, there are many other attributes that has caused a drastic change to our complex political, social, cultural and institutional factors, leading to this kind if mass communication (Vindicatemj. 2012).

Discussion

Sarah Evelyn Isobel Payne was an eight-year old girl On 4 March 1995, was abducted and sexually assaulted by Roy Whiting and later murdered in West Sussex, England in July 2000 by the same person. The subsequent investigation became a high profile murder case in the United Kingdom. Following his conviction, Whiting was imprisoned for life and is currently being held in the maximum security.

The media especially print media has responded Sarah Payne case in a considerable way. A research on the number of articles that were published in the newspapers suggests that The Guardian published 537 articles, The Times published 139 articles, The Sun published 16,32 articles on this case. The case involving child abduction has attracted great deal of print as well as electronic media internationally. Not only this, there are several other cases that were being published in newspapers quite often and caught the attention of readers internationally; such cases include Soham and the missing McCann. These cases seemed to have become the focal point of the parents all over the world (Graber,1994).

All of the parents around the globe fear regarding the potential abduction of their children by the child molesters and sex offenders. According to European Federation for Missing and Sexually Exploited children many children go missing every day; however, few cases are being reported or attract the media's attention. On the other hand, the National centre for missing and exploited children shows that the in United States a child goes missing in every 40 seconds (NCMEC, 2012).

The real issue is that if the child abductors have become the media personification of all source of “Evil”, this could be more evil then these child abductors, who's characteristics, physical ones, and every action are being confirming the same fact.
