Women in Management

Introduction

The role of women in the operate environment has been able to experience a vast amount of development in the context of the current business environment. In the traditional perspective, the majority of the women were kept out of the management posts, and they were only provided with the low and secondary roles. This decision was primarily made by the male dominate management of the companies, who did not want to change their hegemony over the company hierarchy. But the women have been able to raise the voice regarding the injustice and inequality on the work place environment give as a result there have been vast changes in the role of women in the modern companies (Kidwell et Al, 2013, pp. 331).

Before making the further discourse, it is pertinent to mention that the women just represent 3% among the Fortune 500 CEOs, however; from the entry level job, till the top most tiers in the organization, the representation of this gender declines (Carter & Silva, 2010). Hence the failure of certain women to perform on the management level can be attributed to the circumstantial and environmental factors, rather than the inherent capabilities of the person. The issues that a woman can face in the role as a manager while conducting operations in the company, can be based on the environmental and external factors; rather than the internal issues of the person. In any perspective, there are several factors which have to be considered while analyzing the role of the women in the managerial positions.
