Abstract

The purpose of this presentation is to show the Finance Managers all the cost which would be incurred in the WBS. This WBS is related to the ICU unit. It presents all the detailed information of the budget which will be required in the each phase of WBS. The Finance Manager should consider all the elements of the WBS and approve it as work on the ICU units is started. If there is any contradiction then it should be discussed with the Project Manger as appropriate actions should be taken.

Introduction

In the project management, the term Earned Value Management (EVM) is most common. This is the technique which is used to control the overall project. In this single technique, the manager organizes the total budget, time and progress of the project. The EVM helps the manager to see the past achievements, present progress and to forecast the future work on the project (Fleming, Q. W., & koppelman, J. M. 2002). The heart of the EVM is work breakdown structures (WBSs). It is the single small component of the project (jung, Y,. & Woo, S., 2004, pp. 616-625). This can be the service, product or any other part of the project. In the WBS, all the detailed information of estimated budget and time is given. In the simplest words, it is part of the project which is definable, estimateable, manageable, independent as well as an integrated part of the project.

In a single project, there could be a number of WBSs (Project Managment, 2009). In this report, the detailed work of WBS has shown. This WBS is related to the construction of Intense Care Unit (ICU). The construction of ICU is the extended work of already going-on project of the hospital. It would have the capacity of twenty beds in the 5000 sq. feet building. The total estimated expenditures are $4,625,000 and total time required for this construction is six months (1st March to 30th August). The detailed work comprises all the information which is associated to this single WBS of the project. In the table (The WBS of ICU Unit) the summary of required funds is given.

Internal Designing of ICU

As discussed above, the construction of ICU is part of already going-on hospital project. For this, we do not require funds for the land. It is already available. The internal designing of the ICU requires a special care (Learn ICU, 2012). There are so many medical equipments which are attached to each bed. This is because; the majority of patients are in serious condition. The estimated cost for the designing is $ 100,000.
