ABSTRACT

This study gives us a clear picture about the concept of job satisfaction in the food market of UK. The study is mainly based on the male and females employees of Iceland foods based in the UK and the amount of job satisfaction derived by the employees working over there. The study, furthermore, tries to explain all the concepts related to job satisfaction such as job involvement, motivation, employee benefits etc. Finally, the study helps to evaluate the total amount of job satisfaction derived by the male and female employees working at Iceland Foods.

Background of the Study

There is a very tough competition in the business world today. Be it any industry, the companies try their level best to provide their customers and employees, with a maximum amount of satisfaction. The companies provide maximum job satisfaction to its employees in order to retain them, which are eventually beneficial for the company itself. The study is based on UK's leading frozen foods company Iceland Foods. It majorly focuses on the amount of job satisfaction that the male and female employees of Iceland foods derive by working there. The main objective of this study was to determine whether or not there were significant gender differences in the level of satisfaction with the type of work that employees of Iceland Foods do. The second objective was to determine whether or not the difference (if it exists) in satisfaction with the type of work that male and female employees of a university do could be explained by other factors within and outside the work environment. Finally we sought to identify key attributes that could be used to predict the likelihood of job satisfaction among the employees of Iceland Foods.

In recent years, there has been a consistent call at international, regional, national and institutional levels for gender to be integrated into all decision-making processes. In recognition of the importance of gender in the workplace, the University of Botswana established the Gender Policy Programme Committee (GPPC) to create gender awareness and facilitate the incorporation of gender into policies, academic programs and administrative procedures and different business fields.
