Introduction

The termination of pregnancy is known as abortion. This can be done at any stage and the purpose is to end the birth of a baby. Abortion is done by the removal of the fetus from the uterus. When abortion was introduced to the modern world, it was introduced with accordance to the local law.

Ethical Principles

There are some ethical principles that resolve around abortion. These ethical issues relate to the professional, sociological, economic, legal or political implications. Therefore, the physicians can only perform the abortion in certain conditions.

Professional Implications

When a woman wants to get her baby aborted, it is essential for her to ensure the local laws before performing this act. This is important because physicians in the United States have to be licensed. Moreover, there are some states in the US that require a certain point of pregnancy at which the abortion must be performed. Besides this, there are also some states in which there is a requirement of one more physician who should be involved (Jones & Kimport pp 1). It is only ethical for a physician who fulfills all these before he performs an abortion.

Sociological Implications

Abortion is not considered as ethical by most of the people. However, there are times in which a woman wants the baby aborted because of her own will but there are also situations in which it is important to abort the baby to save the life of the mother. Despite all this, abortion is not considered ethical mostly because of the negative human behavior towards it.

Economic Implications

When babies are aborted, it keeps a control on the population. However, it can bring adverse effects in the long run. This is because the country will have more ageing population and there will not be any young people to work. Therefore, the physician must not ...
