Imagine a casual day at the beach, where you were enjoying barbecue, your family and friends tanning and a leisurely soccer game going on. As the day ends and you all parted away, wishing each other a good night. As you make your way to home, admiring the scenery of the beach, you heard the most terrifying noise; a bomb has just dropped at the beach, you were at, with your friends and family. Unexpected! Well, that was my life in summer 2006 (Sullivan, 2007).

Every summer I flew away to Lebanon, the country where most of my family still lives. I spend three months there and enjoy sightseeing, visiting relatives and experiencing my own culture. Each year, as I get older, I am able to see and understand more of my heritage. Each year when I go to Lebanon, I meet people from all over the world, eat the most ethnic food and see the most beautiful sights, I just love Lebanon. As a country, Lebanon is different and impulsive, regardless of its political problems. I enjoy the country for its smells, its food, its people and its wonders. I uncover something new about it each year, and it makes me comeback next summer for more. These summers in Lebanon have shaped me into what I am today, but I wasn't always thrilled to go to Lebanon.

Before 2006, Lebanon was just a place to go and spend my summer. It was a place where I was obliged to go, because my family relatives were there.
