Many immigrants, particularly illicit immigrants (those who go in the United States unlawfully or without correct documentation) work long hours and for little pay. They are hardworking and taxpaying persons that positively influence our finances and our communities. There are over 12 million illicit immigrants in the United States who warrant a possibility to have a good job, profit from citizenship and become a lawful constituent of American society. According to the Organization for U.S. Immigration Support, amnesty can be characterized as “the government's pardon for violating principles pertaining to immigration or politics” (Amnesty for Illegal Immigration 1). The government excuses these persons for utilizing untrue documentations to more effortlessly get paid work in the United States and be adept to stay in the country. Amnesties permit illicit immigrants or undocumented employees to gain enduring residency in the United States. In 1986, the United States conceded its first amnesty to millions of illicit immigrants, permitting them to obtain a Green Card which could lead to the attainment of United States citizenship.
