In the research article “Leader Age, Regime Type, and Violent International Relations”, the author examines the ages of the political leaders, their regime type and the relations of their country with other countries. The analysis in this article examines the relationship between the age of the national leaders and paramilitary conflict break out, finding that senior leaders probably militarized disputes and reach of young leaders to initiate. In the personality regimes young leaders are expected to escalate. Quantitative research is one in which data are collected and analyzed quantitative variables. Qualitative research prevents quantification. Qualitative researchers make narrative records of the phenomena being studied using techniques such as participant observation and unstructured interviews. The fundamental difference between both methods is that quantitative studies the association or relationship between quantified and qualitative variables makes structural and situational contexts (Creswell, 2003, 21-24). Qualitative research seeks to identify the underlying nature of the realities, relations system, its dynamic structure. Quantitative research is to determine the strength of association or correlation between variables, generalization and objectivity of the results through a sample to make inference to a population sample from which all proceeds. After studying the association or correlation aims, in turn, make causal inferences to explain why things happen or not a particular way.

The most popular research approaches used to make informed scientific decisions include qualitative and quantitative methods. Differences between quantitative and qualitative research lie in their approach to identification of the research problems and reviews of the literature. The two approaches have different strategies in specifying the purpose, data collection, data analysis, reporting, and evaluating research. In identifying a research problem, Creswell (2005) claimed that it is descriptive and explanatory for quantitative but exploratory for qualitative research. Quantitative research uses scientific methods to investigate phenomena and address issues and problems. These methods utilize an objective manner that enhances the reliability of the information and reduces biases. Qualitative research answers questions and explores new knowledge in a natural environment. This approach attempts to understand all aspects of people's behaviors, attitudes, and experiences. To address the research questions, the qualitative approach depends on four main data collections strategies: participation, observation, interviews, and analysis.
