Malinowski expended a total of almost two years between 1914 and 1920 amidst the Trobriand Islanders of the Western Pacific. He was one of the first anthropologists to partake of expanded fieldwork dwelling amidst the persons who he was revising and trying to realize the "native issue of view". As such, he is often mentioned to as the founder of British anthropology.
