Introduction

The way in which adolescents live has changed over time. Not the same as a person of 20 years today than it was last decade (not to mention years ago). These differences are evident in how we learn and interact with our surroundings. Many people say that the technology we have today makes us further away from the people and we have a promiscuous lifestyle we believe that if we use the tools at our disposal we can properly make that claim a fallacy of power bring more wealth to our person. Desktop computers were replaced in the past 5 years and most recently laptops notebooks, which have a very small size and weight. Computers changed with the busy lifestyle of people, now we all need to be communicated all the time, working in places other than our home and this was not possible before (Hansen, 1987, pp. 47).

Discussion

Laptops, printers, LCD monitors, consumables ... The hardware is now part of everyday life, at work or at home. The growing demand for laptops in the last 6 years is proof positive. According to the institute IDC, nearly 300 million laptops flow each year around the world, emerging weighing nearly half of global demand. According to statistics from the ANRT, the rate of personal computer equipment is up 19% since 2008. In 2009, 45% of the stock of computers in households was mobile, as against 30% a year earlier. This performance is due to the diversification of suppliers of Internet access, which offer packages with computers at very competitive prices. This increase is also due to the structuring of the distribution (Silverstone, 1994, pp. 123).

Impact of laptops in Electronics Industry

The laptops segment of this industry has grown markedly during the five-year period. In 2011, portables are expected to represent 48.0% of industry revenue, compared with 41.0% in 2007. Technological advancements in semiconductor manufacturing and heightened production capacity have rapidly brought down the price of laptops during the five years to 2011 (Silverstone, 1994, pp. 123).

The server computer segment of this industry has also grown during the period, though at a more modest rate. Servers are expected to represent 16.9% of industry revenue in 2011, compared with 14.8% in 2007. Large enterprises, particularly in the IT services sector, stepped up investments in servers during the recession. Businesses are moving toward cloud computing, where software and computing power is provided over the internet. Cloud computing requires significant investment in servers and data centers (facilities that house many servers). Enterprises are also taking advantage of the currently cheap computer prices to upgrade aging internal systems.

Demand Determinants

Computers and laptops have evolved to capture most aspects of people's daily lives. No longer a luxury, it has become a central point for where households can shop, research, study and communicates. Essentially, developments in technology have digitalized the lifestyle of people, and computers have become the center of this. Demand for computers is principally generated from the replacement market, rather than the new computer ...
